European projects - Clean Sky
We are particularly active in European research and development projects on theClean Sky platform. The research activity mainly concerns the field of mechanical power transmissions for aeronautical applications.

GeT FuTuRe ProjectThe project started in 2018 with the participation of a 3-member consortium: the University of Pisa, Catarsi Ing. Piero and AM Testing. The project led to the realisation of a test bench called IDS (Integral Drive System) for testing a planetary gearbox for aeronautical applications called SAGE 4.

The IDS test benchThe test bench is currently hosted at the CRTM Test Facility of the University of Pisa. It has a mechanical power recirculation architecture with a circulating power of about 20 MW and a maximum rotation speed of 20,000 rpm. The test bench is controlled by a DAQ&C system with about 200 channels and is equipped with a telemetry system that allows the measurement of some peculiar quantities such as, for example, the deformation of the solar teeth. |
Hilogear Project
The HILOGEAR (High load gear and bearings materials) project supports the aims to mature differentiating technologies and processes that could be introduced in the innovative drive system module for the UHPE (Ultra High Propulsion Efficiency Engine) demonstrator.
The main HILOGEAR project tasks and goals are:
- the selection, jointly with the TM, of promising materials and surface treatments suitable both for gears and bearings
- testing activities on bearings also in contaminated conditions
- testing activities on gears in high load and high temperature conditions similar to those of new engines
Regional projects - POR FESR Toscana
We are active in research and development projects in the Tuscan region. The research activity covers various fields of engineering and product development.
Supply Chain 4.0 project
The project aims at empowering the company to successfully deal with the procurement of complex aeronautical components, through consultancy on organisational change and the presence of a Temporary Manager. Project co-financed by POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020, Line of action 1.1.2.
AirFlask project
The R&S PRO.AIR.FLA. project, which has been admitted to funding for a total amount of € 1,113,918.00, concerns the creation of a prototype air flask for torpedoes that can be marketed, accompanied by documentation that ensures the quality of the product through a system of tests and trials. Project co-financed by POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020.
Smart@lign project
The Smart@lign project aims to develop a lean process for collaborative web design and manufacturing of customised orthodontic aligners using innovative additive manufacturing technology. Project co-financed by POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020, ASSE I - ACTION 1.1.5.
Nausicaa Project
The aim of the NAUSICAA (NAUtical Safety by means of Integrated Computer - Assisted Appliances 4.0) project is to develop a system for medium and large vessels in which conventional control, propulsion and thrust systems are integrated with a series of latest generation sensors such as lidar systems, cameras, radar, marine drones and aircrafts in order to provide a complementary system of assistance during navigation and mooring phases. Project co-financed by POR FESR Toscana 2014-2020 Axis 1 - Action 1.1.5 sub a1 and carried out by ATS TEAM ITALIA.
